It's a little weird, but I like to bake pies. I think I got here due to the fact that I like to eat pie. My favorite growing up was pumpkin pie, but then I got two new favorites as an adult. Chess and rhubarb.
Chess pie is just so rich, plus I love the name. The story is that it's "just pie" or "jes' pie" which sounds like "chess pie" when spoken with a Southern US accent. It's the pie you make with "just" the things you have in the kitchen: eggs, corn meal, sugar, and a little vinegar. Might now sound good, but it's good!
And rhubarb - it's the summer and I've got some rhubarb ready for plucking. That's what got me thinking pie.
